What is it about?
This paper compares the predictions of best practice aircraft noise models with experimental results around Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Considerable differences are found between both. A simple method to calculate the engine fan rotational speed based on the audio recordings of the flyovers is proposed and applied. Introducing these calculations as input in the noise prediction models considerably improve the agreement with experimental data.
