What is it about?
The use of curvilinear spars and ribs for the wings of aircrafts is an idea this is recently been explored. In this work we optimized the shape and thickness of curvilinear spars and ribs as well as skin thickness of a transport aircraft wing and obtained a design with less structural weight and better performance compared to the same wing with traditional straight spars and ribs.
