What is it about?
Aircraft that fly within the atmosphere usually take oxygen from the air to combust with fuel to produce thrust. These air-breathing engines use air intakes to capture and compress the freestream air prior to combustion. This paper describes a new method at constructing air intakes for high-speed (supersonic and hypersonic) applications.
