What is it about?
Laser-induced explosion can compact an impulsive thrust on the irradiated target, which can be applied to laser propulsion. In this research, we show the impulse and the flow of the explosion induced by an annular laser on a spherical target for a laser launching system, Donut-Sphere. A characteristic flow phenomenon, the shock focus, is investigated about its relation to the impulsive performance and the stability of the system.
