What is it about?
When the Mars Science Laboratory (Curiosity Rover) and the Mars 2020 (Perseverance Rover) missions were descending toward the surface of Mars, their landing engines caused erosion on the Martian surface to occur when the spacecraft was still at a relatively high altitude. This work documents, for the first time, the altitude at which surface erosion was first observed for both of these missions.
