What is it about?

This paper develops an easy framework to evaluate how an actor in the space industry complies with regulations in place. Our model renders a number that acts as a compliance score for public or private actors. The novelty is tying in quantitative tools for an evaluation of qualitative metrics. Moreover, anyone is able to use the tool. However, the precision of a score is affected by the user's level of expertise in assessing their organization.

Why is it important?

Our framework is a step forward in innovating in the field of space law and policy. Indeed, it renders regulation accessible and precise. It's all the more important because the model is adaptable. It can grow alongside our industry or be personalized to an actor's liking.

Perspectives

This publication is the first step towards a comprehensive and easy model for space compliance. It is, first and foremost, an idea that requires to be adopted and nurtured by industry experts. There is more work to do, but I'm hopeful that we are on the right path.
