What is it about?
Ultra high aspect ratio wings hold promise for next-generation large aircraft designs, with struts employed to enhance mechanical performance. However, the impact of struts on noise certification during the approach process remains uncertain. This paper presents a method that considers the realistic geometry of a full wing to assess this effect.

Why is it important?
In the noise estimation of an ultra-high aspect ratio wing, both trailing edge noise and dipole noise must be considered. However, estimating the dipole noise of an entire wing is challenging due to its large size. We utilised a method to predict the dipole noise of the whole wing by using sections of it. This method accounts for the effect of the positions of different sections and the model size changes on the overall wing noise, rather than relying solely on simple area scaling laws.
