What is it about?

Our work proposes a new approach to solving coverage problems in 3D. We use the concept of Lissajous curves to generate trajectories to be followed by the covering agent. Our approach uses very little information regarding the geometry of the structure to achieve complete coverage. We have demonstrated our strategy for stationary as well as moving structures. Such strategies can be used to paint, extinguish fire outbreaks or perform surveillance of large structures using autonomous agents.

Why is it important?

Using Lissajous curves we generate smooth and continuous coverage paths having little dependency on the geometry of the structure, unlike what was previously mentioned in the literature.
