What is it about?

This research is part of a broader development of low-order solvers for supersonic aircraft design. Which uses the vortex lattice method in conjugate with Taylor MacColl for improved drag prediction capabilities of the solver based on a new novel approach of machcone influence accommodating the shockwave boundary interaction.

Why is it important?

It helps in understanding the shockwave boundary interaction over the panel surface. Predicting the skin friction drag and its influence at supersonic speeds to predict the change in the velocity potential across each panel assuming it undergoes machcone generation during its transition from subsonic to supersonic speeds.

Perspectives

This research was proposed to showcase the potential use of conjugate of low order methods in understanding the complex supersonic flow with the ease of potential flow theory for accurate and quick results. The use of this solver is emphasised towards the preliminary stages of supersonic design.
