What is it about?

There are many numerical methods for predicting noise from aero-engine intakes. However, as the designs of intakes get more complex, these methods take increasing long to run and are rarely efficient enough to be used within the intake design process. One method for predicting intake noise is the Eigen Analysis in Generalised Curvilinear Coordinates (EAGCC) method. This paper introduces an extension to the EAGCC method that speeds up the noise prediction resulting from small changes in mean flow to a base design, opening up the possibility of using the method for optimisation or robust design.
