What is it about?
Future, high-speed propulsion systems are envisaged to allow routine space access. However, substantial development is still required, including experimental testing. Motivated by the small size of academic research facilities, we quantify the similarity of base pressure under large blockage, against free-stream flow. We propose a method that allows this comparison and results indicate good levels of comparability. This is very important for experimental base drag analyses of future exhausts for space access applications.
