For the first time, strains of a new Gram-positive soil bacteria dubbed by the named “Paenibacillus hemolyticus” possessing both hemolytic and growth-enhancing activities with potential clinical implications were reported.

Why is it important?
Most of the antibiotics that we currently in medical practice were originated from bacteria that live in the soil, so exploring such bacteria, including the Paenibacillus species, opens up tremendous possibilities in the discovery of new compounds with growth-promoting activities.
