What is it about?
The use of injection drugs amongst teenagers in the United States has been increasing over recent years and has been associated with various blood-borne infections. Morbidity and mortality are frequently analyzed with a focus on geographical and demographical makeup which has also been linked to the various types of injection drug use and might be more prevalent in one area than in another. The analysis of social and economic factors has also been shown as factors in the increasing prevalence of injection drug use among United States teenagers.

Why is it important?
Evidence from various fields, such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, and epidemiology strongly suggest that the etiology of substance use and abuse is multifactorial, with genetics, psychological, and social factors collectively playing an influential role.
