What is it about?
The association between use of continuous glucose monitoring and hypoglycaemia confidence and fear has not previously been assessed in the young adult population. We measured changes in scores of validated questionnaires in response to use of continuous glucose monitoring and determined the particular characteristics at baseline that might best predict a beneficial response.

Why is it important?
Hypoglycaemia confidence was lower in young adults with a shorter duration of diabetes. Hypoglycaemia fear was higher in young adults with higher generalised anxiety. These scores improved with the use of continuous glucose monitoring. There was a large impact on quality of life. Continuous glucose monitoring is very useful in the young adult population.
