What is it about?

The COVID-19 pandemic is an ongoing global pandemic caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). This novel virus was first identified in December 2019. In March 2020, the government of UAE, declared a nation wide lockdown due to this pandemic. Healthcare personnels (HCPs) are prone to experiencing psychological stress related to exposure to disease, shortage in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and allocation of limited resources to patients.

Why is it important?

HCPs are constantly at a high risk of developing several psychological symptoms, such as depression, anxiety and stress which affects the work and life of HCPs during the ongoing period of COVID-19. It is important to understand the extend of these symptoms to formulate a plan to alleviate their psychological burden.

Perspectives

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the healthcare industry causing deaths of millions of people around the world. With this article we would like to shed some light on the silent psychological battles fought by the healthcare professionals while battling the virus.
