Why is it important?

Human rhinovirus can pose a significant problem for individuals with existing lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis and asthma, and new treatments for combatting it are urgently required. We highlight some recent exciting developments in the field that may finally provide a therapeutic option for treating this viral infection.

Perspectives

There has been some real progress made over the past few years in terms of finding an effective way of treating rhinovirus and the common cold. We felt it appropriate to take this opportunity to highlight the work that has occurred in many groups around the world in terms of finding an effective treatment for this virus. We hope that in the next few years, we will finally see change in how rhinovirus infection is treated.
