Why is it important?

Research directions are often defined from a "science first" perspective. The next most common approach is an industry driven research project. This paper turns the tables on these traditional models and looks at a multiple stakeholder definition of research questions. The process includes scientists, knowledge users, companies, institutions to develop research in the broadest need serving way possible. The paper presents a way to resolve all these stakeholder views.

Perspectives

We are still using the ideas from this process. It has really helped us to develop a highly collaborative and diverse research team. It develops very empowered, active and engaged research team members.
