Why is it important?

It is important to identify the location of the node through which the sensor reading originates. Localization is very much essential, as it is necessary for data correlation like tracking of target. It helps in knowing and understanding the utility of a WSN through its coverage area and increases network lifetime.

Perspectives

This article presents the comparison of various localization algorithms with respect to their benefits, cost, limitations and the life time of a network. The technique that gives highly accurate location coordinates and having less hardware cost is distributed RSSI based localization algorithm. This technique is also very helpful in getting the location coordinates of the sensor nodes in most typical environments.
