What is it about?
Due to their ease of preparation and accessibility, benzylamine and its derivatives can serve as simpler building blocks for compounds with improved biological and chemical properties. Thus, in this research, we explored benzylamine-phenol hybrids as possible future drugs for the treatment of tuberculosis.

Why is it important?
Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the leading causes of death in developing countries. For example, over 1 million people die each year due to TB. Additionally, the treatment of TB usually takes time, thus leading to patients not completing their treatment. Furthermore, the emergence of multidrug-resistance tuberculosis (MD-R TB) and extensively drug-resistance tuberculosis (XDR-TB) has further compromised the management of tuberculosis.
