What is it about?

A review about a general and historical concepts of microbiota, who is progressive focused in "brain-gut-microbiota axis" and the links of this axis and the neurodegenerative diseases.

Because it may get a general point of view of microbiota (phyllogenia, historical evolution, characteristics and properties) and the bilateral "flow of information" between microbiota and host (including their impact in autoimmune diseases, specially the neurodegenerative conditions).

Perspectives

At the end, this review article points to future aproximations to the study of microbiota (future technical resources) and potential therapeutic applications.
