What is it about?
Our work synthesized a group of compounds and evaluated their anti-tumor activities virtually and then in vitro. The results indicated that the new tolfenamic acid derivatives are promising chemotherapeutics by targeting blood vessel formation which induced cancer cell death.

Why is it important?
Current chemotherapy drugs are non-selective with numerous side effects. Tumor growth and spread (metastasis) depends on the formation of blood vessels (angiogenesis). Our novel tolfenamic acid derivatives target this process by inhibiting the action of a major receptor VEGFR.
