This paper deals with the role of a specific growth factor (Hepatocyte growth factor) in the pathogenesis of lymphomas. In particular the activity of HGF has been explored in more details in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.

Why is it important?
Up to now only a few papers have considered the activity of Hepatocyte growth factor in supporting the clonal expansion of leukemic cells. Moreover we interestingly highlighted a dual role of HGF: increased survival of leukemic cells and suppression of the control of the disease by immune cells
