Beta-carbolines are naturally occurring alkaloids that have been demonstrated to possess various pharmacological properties. The present review provides an update on the Anti-infective potential of beta-carbolines. Various mechanisms through which they exhibit their Anti-infective properties have also been discussed in detail.

Why is it important?
Natural beta-carboline alkaloids have been demonstrated to exhibit beneficial effects against infectious diseases. Due to this, there has been a growing interest in developing novel synthetic beta-carboline analogs.
