What is it about?
Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic condition that affects the joints in the knee. The purpose of this study was to identify critical gene interactions in OA and thereby find the key gene that plays a role in its pathogenesis. A number of immune-related hub genes might contribute to OA development, including TYROBP, ITGAM, ITGB2, C1QC, MARCO, C1QB, and TLR8.

Why is it important?
Seven hub genes were identified as potential biomarkers of OA in our study. The hub genes' expression levels were validated by qPCR. There is evidence that TYROBP, ITGAM, ITGB2, C1QC, MARCO, C1QB, and TLR8 play a critical role in OA development.
