What is it about?
Protease-activated receptors are regulators of blood coagulation. Beside coagulation they exert an important role in modulating the innate immune response. In this review, we summarize data from recent studies on protease-activated receptors and their role for the immune response in the heart during a viral infection.

It is important to understand the mechanisms of the innate immune response upon viral infection, especially in the heart. Without more molecular knowlegde, we would not be able to design new therapeutic agents.

To develop a new therapeutic approach in patients with cardiomyopathy.
