What is it about?
Natural polymers have promising applications in drug and gene delivery systems due to their excellent properties such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, low immunogenicity, and easy modification. Our purpose is to present a comprehensive and systematic review emphasizing the benefits of multiple natural polymers and updated information about natural polymers.

Why is it important?
Since the structure, physicochemical properties, pharmacological properties and biological characteristics of biopolymer molecules have not yet been entirely understood, further studies are re-quired before large-scale clinical application. The purpose of the article is to gain a deeper understanding the properties of natural polymers and provide an important strategy for their clinical application in drug and gene delivery systems.
