What is it about?
Porphyrins with sugar units are a contemporary example of bioconjugate molecules. They are increasingly used in medicinal chemistry as imaging and treatment tools, esp. in photodynamic cancer therapy. Here we review the available chemical synthetic strategies for their preparation and survey their potential biomedical uses.
