Why is it important?
Aldosterone might cause several cardiac structural remodelling and dysfunction, including LVH and diastolic dysfunction. These aldosterone induced cardiac changes can be independent of their impact on blood pressure. Thus, it is crucial to address aldosterone excess and not just blood pressure in the relevant clinical conditions. MR blockade could effectively decrease or reverse these harmful consequences.
