What is it about?
indole-based compounds are considered an important and powerful motif for scientists during their fight against this widespread and life-threatening disease, i.e., cancer. Many anti-cancer agents that pertain to an indole scaffold have entered the pre-clinical and clinical stages, and there are too many FDA-approved drugs. we focused on the merits of the indole nucleus which may motivate researchers to investigate this nucleus. However, some obstacles may arise during drug development using indoles, such as selectivity. Continuous research and the use of modern drug design approaches and screening technologies might help overcome such obstacles

Why is it important?
Indole scaffold has too many mechanisms to exert its anti-cancer activity, and there are too many FDA-approved drugs with indole-based structures. This may motivate researchers to focus on this nucleus, and we showed too many examples to enthusiast them toward this topic.
