What is it about?

Patients with hypertension have altered autonomic nervous system function, which are increased sympathetic activity. Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) is a useful modality for pain control and has also been shown to be effective in the reduction of sympathetic activity

Our findings show that TENS shown to be effective in the autonomic nervous system regulation.

Perspectives

Use of TENS especially in the rehabilitation clinic for safety and recognition of factors that may increase sympathetic activity and also in the future as possible nonpharmacological treatment.
