What is it about?
Bio-flavonoids comprise a group of phenolic secondary plant metabolites that are widespread in nature. Major flavonoids that have well categorized structures and well defined structure function-relationships are flavans, flavanones, flavones, isoflavones, flavonols, flavanols, flavanonols, catechins, chalcones, dihydrochalcones, aurones, anthocyanidins and anthocyanins. Bio-flavonoids are well-known for their multi-directional pharmacological potentials that include antioxidant, anticancer, antitumor, cytotoxic, enzyme inhibitory, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-HIV, antidiabetic, anti-platelet aggregation, and neuroprotective activity. Hence, this group of natural polyphenols is now-a-days regarded as promising and significantly attractive natural substances to enrich the current therapy options against a variety of diseases.

Why is it important?
