What is it about?
The Redwing is a relatively small species of the genus Turdus, which is widely distributed throughout the northern Palearctic region. It is a long-distance migrant that winters mainly in western and southern Europe. In these areas, the nighttime sound of the species’ characteristic seep calls as it migrates en masse overhead is one of the clearest signs of the advancing boreal autumn and a harbinger of the upcoming winter for birdwatchers.
