What is it about?

The gasification process is a thermal conversion technology transforming the chemical energy contained in a solid fuel into thermal energy and electricity. We showed that the yeast industry sludge was an appropriate material for gasification studies and remarkable energy recovery was obtained in terms of power production by using syngas.

Why is it important?

The yeast industry sludge having rich organic content could be used for energy recovery purpose via gasification.

Perspectives

Biosolids including the sludge produced in wastewater treatment facilities are important materials having many beneficial usage alternatives. One of them is the energy recovery. We do research on the energy recovery from sludges by using different methods. In this study, gasification process was applied for this purpose. We obtained successfully results which are applicable for full-scale applications.
