What is it about?

The second and third rinse cycles of laundry wastewater is relatively 'clean' however the presence of surfactants and other particulate contaminants are present. This work highlights the concentrations of surfactants and other chemical components contained in laundry wastewater. In addition the research indicates a quick and effective method electrocoagulative method to remove such components over a biological method.

Why is it important?

This work shows how the effective method of electrocoagulation is used to remove the surfactants and particulate matter. It also highlights the application of analytical methods of detection of such components.

Perspectives

Carrying out this research has shed light on the great potential in harvesting laundry wastewater which otherwise is simply discarded. The results of this work has been an extremely successful and positive one which has received worldwide attention and readership. This work culminated in the publication of a book chapter that has also received increasing readership worldwide.
