What is it about?
The environment naturally consists of a lot of microbial diversity, and fungi is known to be abundantl in the environment. Most of the fungi are pathogenic and some are capable of producing mycotoxins. The article brings to light new knowledge of fungi surviving and persisting in treated drinking water distribution systems. Also mentioned is the health impacts of mycotoxigenic fungi especially to the immunocompromised patients.

Why is it important?
Raising awareness of the less studied mycology in treated drinking water for inclusion in the battery of monitoring especially in developing countries wherewater distribution infrastructure is either old or poor.
Perspectives
Writing this article has given me more knowledge in understanding that most of the fields in Science do correspond in one study. I had to read article from different spheres of Water and Health.
