What is it about?
We aimed in this study to determine the association of I/D polymorphism of α2B-adrenergic receptor with hypertension with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and to show role of type 2 diabetes mellitus in this association

Why is it important?
In conclusion, our study showed stronger association of DD genotype and D allele with hypertension and this association is more evident in hypertension with diabetes that postulate that deletion allele is associated with diabetes so α2B-AR polymorphism is one of genes involved in prediction of hypertension and diabetesthe α-2 adrenergic receptor pathway should be considered as a potential drug target for prevention of type 2 diabetes.
