Why is it important?
The physician-patient collaboration and adherence to recommended treatment is essential to achieve intended therapeutic effect. Nonadherence to medication regimen after myocardial infarction (MI) leads to increased morbidity and mortality and generates additional cost to the health care system. The Adherence in Chronic Diseases Scale (ACDS) is a newly developed, validated method for assessment of adherence to treatment in chronically ill patients.
