What is it about?
The Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS) is the most commonly used patient-reported instrument to assess pain-related catastrophizing. This study describes the translation and cross-cultural adaptation procedures of the Nepali version of PCS, and further describes the reliability and validity of the instrument in assessing pain-related catastrophizing in adults with chronic pain.

Why is it important?
For the cross-cultural comparison of pain catastrophizing scores across cultures and to investigate the role of catastrophizing in patient functioning, translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the PCS in a new language is an important step. Similarly, the instrument in newer language may or may not be reliable or valid, thus, evaluation of its reliability and validity in the new language is necessary.
