Why is it important?

There is very little research in the publishing documentation on the emergence and development of higher education for publishers in Bulgaria and, in particular, on the assessment of the relevance and usefulness to the labour market in the book system. Three problems were identified – dispersion of areas of higher education in publishing studies, low interest of prospective students in academic education for publishers, and disinterest of the publishing sector in personnel with higher education in book publishing.

Perspectives

The study highlights the need to rethink, coordinate and apply an integral approach to the training of staff for the entire book system and in particular for the publishing industry. Inferences are equally important for young people with ambitions in the publishing business and for all stakeholders in the publishing field.
