What is it about?
Zeolites are porous minerals and also important synthetic materials, exploited in many industrial applications. Their efficient application requires a deep understanding of their behavior at the conditions of the industrial process, which often involve high-pressure treatments. Here, we studied some zeolites at very high pressure to reveal how their structure is deformed under these harsh conditions.

Why is it important?
We explained the deformation mechanisms of these porous materials by analyzing their flexibility under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. We found that most zeolites have impressive resistance to compression because of the flexibility of their structure.
