What is it about?

A total of 30 sinus lifts were performed. A split mouth design was realized: 15 were augmented with autologous bone while 15 with MHA. Five months later, dental implants were placed in the same sites and bone samples were gathered. Histological and morphometric study were carried out as well bone volume and vital bone levels were evaluated

Why is it important?

Magnesium enriched hydroxyapatite showed a lower osteoclastic potential while autologous bone showed higher osteblastic potential

Perspectives

It was a pleasure to understand the osteogenic potential of such a biomaterial!
