No evidence of the fungus that causes bat white nose syndrome in Louisiana

What is it about?

We applied a visual method (inspection under UV light) and a genetic detection method to look for evidence of the fungus that causes the bat disease white nose syndrome in Louisiana.

Why is it important?

White nose syndrome represents a disease that is devastating bat populations across North America. Using two different methods of detection, we found no evidence that the fungus that causes this disease is present in Louisiana.
