What is it about?
This work explains how to make police oversight in South Sulawesi more effective, transparent, and accountable. It focuses on strengthening the role of internal supervisors who handle public complaints, monitor police performance, and prevent misconduct. By improving training, using digital tools, and creating stronger systems, the strategy aims to ensure that community concerns are addressed fairly and that police services meet public expectations. The overall goal is to build greater trust between the police and the people they serve.

Why is it important?
This work is unique because it applies internal supervision strategies specifically to a regional police context in Indonesia, where public trust and accountability remain key challenges. It is timely as police institutions worldwide are under increasing pressure to improve transparency and responsiveness to public complaints. By combining modern digital tools with stronger governance frameworks, the strategy offers practical steps that can be applied immediately to strengthen oversight. The difference this work can make is significant: it not only improves internal effectiveness but also enhances community trust in law enforcement, which is essential for safer, fairer, and more accountable policing.
Perspectives
As a police officer responsible for strengthening internal oversight and handling public complaints, I see every day how important effective supervision is for building trust between the police and the community. This publication reflects my belief that oversight is not just about detecting problems, but also about creating a culture of accountability and professionalism within the organisation. By sharing these strategies, I hope to contribute to more transparent policing practices in South Sulawesi and inspire similar improvements across other regions.
