Why is it important?
By studying global trends of polio-based publications we can observe challenges that remain this research direction along with untapped potential for research impact. For example we found a trend of a transition towards interdisciplinary collaboration in the field. Another trend we observed was that the significant proportion of the literature (33.5%) remained uncited, suggesting an untapped potential for research impact. Further we not only delineates the historiography of polio research but also underscore the necessity for enhanced dissemination and integration of findings to fortify the global health response to poliomyelitis.
