What is it about?

We demonstrate Marine biofuel experimental evidence on the production of Biomethane from Rum Distillery Waste and Sargassum Seaweed, and present a technical analysis of why it should be used as an Alternative Fuel for Transportation in Barbados.

Why is it important?

Barbados is on a path to be 100% fossil fuel free by 2030, so alternative transportation power (apart from fossil fuels) are needed. Electric cars can power up to 20% of transportation - we think, and demonstrate, that Sargassum seaweed can power the remainder.

Perspectives

This solution can benefit the entire Caribbean region where most of the islands suffer from the hazards associated with increased influxes of sargassum seaweed on the beaches, and struggle with the high price of imported fossil fuels for cars. This solution is a low-hanging fruit since any regular car converted with a CNG kit can be driven on the biomethane from sargassum seaweed.
