Why is it important?

The article shows that besides being a source of entertainment for young people, contemporary Zimbabwean music details the struggles of ordinary Zimbabwean especially the youth living at the margins of the country's economy. The music is also a source of power that fosters a response resonating with a postcolonial urban youth cultural activism seeking to empower the ordinary Zimbabweans.

Perspectives

I believe that this article will open up scholarly conversations on the significance of contemporary Zimbabwean music especially considering how it locates the music within the Zimbabwean political context.
