Why is it important?

Acute peritoneal dialysis is rarely used in medical institutions. With the surge in the number of patients requiring kidney replacement therapy due to COVID and the shortages of both staff and supplies, a solution was needed to provide patients with dialysis. Acute PD presented a viable options and it was able to help deliver dialysis to these very ill patients.
