What is it about?

This study shows that the narrowing of the renal artery, also known as renal artery stenosis (RAS), compromises the capacity of human stem cells (MSCs) to repair mouse kidneys suffering from RAS, partly by microRNAs that alter their mitochondria. Importantly, inhibition of miR-378h restored preserved mitochondrial structure and function in RAS-MSCs. These observations suggest that RAS can compromise the reparative capacity of MSCs in patients with RVD.
