What is it about?
In this piece, we describe the different mechanisms of cell death of kidney tubular cells. This is important because nephron loss (which includes kidney tubular cell death) is the reason for loss of kidney function. 850M humans suffer from chronic kidney disease, and we believe that it is important to understand the mechanisms of how these nephrons are lost.
