What is it about?
The glomeruli in the kidneys play an important role in maintaining the body’s health by filtering extra fluid and wastes from blood. Damage to the glomerular capillaries is considered to cause kidney diseases, such as diabetic nephropathy. We show that the loss of ADGRF5 protein results in damage to and dysfunction of the glomerular capillaries. ADGRF5 is essential for the integrity of the glomerular capillaries, and could be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of kidney diseases.
